Be a better developer with some non-development skills - 9/19/2017

Here are my top skills for being a better developer that are oddly, not related to any platform or programming language:
  • Learn to type better, the faster you can type, the less time you spend correcting and the more time you spend getting ideas out of your head and into your IDE. Several studies have shown that typing speed is #1 in terms of programmer productivity. The best I have ever seen is: Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing
  • Learn to understand and effectively communicate with personalities different than your own: Keirsey
  • Read faster, no really. Read Speeder
  • Improve your Memory
  • Understand people and what motivates them: Dale Carnegie
  • Organize your thoughts better and be a better public speaker, join Toastmasters.org
